Press Release: Spring 2023 | Zoya Daydreaming Collection

Hi all! I thought I posted this, but it turns out I didn't.

Zoya's new-for-spring 2023 Daydreaming Collection has six fun and bright shimmers with a jelly-like base that builds to opaque in 2-3 coats. The shimmers in these polishes are so fun--most feature a pink-gold multi-color shimmer. While the colors might not be what you would typically expect for Spring, you have to admit they're very eye-catching!

Zoya daydreaming collection bottles

The shades in this collection are: Terra, Kira, Marie, Yardley, Tink, and Sipsey.

I haven't worn all the shades yet, but I did get a quick photo of Terra in the sun. Terra is the warm-toned pinky purple. Zoya describes Terra as an amethyst purple with pink undertones in a micro-shimmer formula. This was 3 coats.

I personally plan to wear these throughout summer as well (plus Arizona spring is basically summer for many places!). The Daydreaming Spring 2023 collection is currently available on the Zoya website as a set or individually, and they are sure to have some promotions soon. Zoya also just launched a rewards program!

All Zoya nail polishes are 10 free, meaning free of harmful chemicals found in some polishes, and they are vegan-friendly. I find the wear time overall to be good and get at least 7 days (using quick dry topcoat).

Do you like the approach that Zoya took with this collection, or do you prefer pastels for spring polishes? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Press Release: Fall 2022 Zoya Cafe Creams & Metallic Dreams

It's happening. Fall is peeking its eyes around the corner, even in this heat. I hear the rustling in the distance and smell the pumpkin spice.

Some beautiful fall collections are popping up, and they are nailing it this year. Zoya has two color story releases this month, Cafe Creams (a coffee themed collection!) and Metallic Dreams (a trio of velvety fall shimmers).

Here's a peek of what these queens look like...

Fall Fun Series: Apples, Sweaters and Denim

Hi there! Today's post will be short and sweet because I don't have a big array of apple things to share....which is sad because I do like apple! I guess I just go full fledged pumpkin this time of year.
Alas, the theme today is apple and I want to give her the full respect she deserved before all the pumpkin spice crazies (me!!) had her take a back seat.

I'm sharing the apple scents that I have been loving, and a quick nail of the day before a proper review of this gorgeous polish.  I grabbed two new candles from Bath and Body Works last week including the one below, Leaves.
Leaves fragrance notes read: crisp red apple, golden nectar, and warm clove spice. It smells like a more mature version of apple cinnamon...without the gimmicky scent that some apple cinnamon candles have. I do smell clove as the spice that accompanies this.  I am excited to see how this one performs!  As you can see I have not tried it yet:

Next is my absolute favorite apple candle to date!  This is by Everyday Luxe, a brand exclusively found in TJMaxx and Marshalls to my knowledge.  I bought 2 of these candles last year and I am down to my last.  The name of this is Farmer's Market, but when I went to find new ones this year the scent is labeled as Harvest (it definitely smells the same) and I didn't see a Farmer's Market to compare.  I opted not to get this year's version because it smelled lighter so I'm hoping they will get a new batch in the coming weeks. I will edit this post on the definitive name because I know they are each different candles. If you're looking, for now go with the one that smells like cider.

They don't put fragrance notes on their candles, unfortunately.  If I had to describe it FM/ Harvest (??) is a warm and delicious apple cider with notes of pear and nectar.  It is very unique to anything in BBW right now and it's just heavenly! 10/10 recommend!
If you have seen Everyday Luxe anywhere else, please holla at ya girl!

Finally, what goes better with a romp in the apple orchard than wearing Sweaters and Denim in festive fall fashion?  I bought Vapid Sweaters and Denim early this year and just now getting around to trying it. This is my first thermal polish and my fist Vapid polish.  I am SO glad I grabbed it!  This is 3 very easy coats and is also a 10/10 recommend!

The quick picture I snapped of Sweaters and Denim is in its transition state - part a denim indigo color and part peachy copper shimmer. It's still really warm here, so I have to play around a bit to get a cold shot. The sun was setting when I ran outside to grab these pics. I was out picking apples all day after all! :)

I hope you check out my other friends participating in this series.

Vapid will be having a restock and new fall polish release at the end of the month. I imagine Sweaters and Denim will make a return at some point too. What shades and scents are you loving this fall?

Love, Angeline: Ocean Breeze - Sea Escapes

Hey there! I wanted to share a gorgeous matte shimmer polish from Love, Angeline. This beauty is, Ocean Breeze, a polish from her Sea Escapes collection.  The whole collection is currently available in her shop and all the polishes in this collection are matte with a different contrasting shimmer.  Very unique and gorgeous and now I'm pining for the beach with these!
Anyway, on to Ocean Breeze:

Love this green aqua shimmer!  Here's my thoughts on everything else:
Formula was very easy to work with and gets extra points that it was so easy considering it's a matte (and that AZ is a million degrees right now!)

My swatches are 3 coats, no topcoat!  The first coat was pretty sheer but built up really well on the second coat.  I did 3 to be safe, but could probably get away with 2 coats.

Dry time was great and I didn't need any other matte topcoat but was tempted to put a glossy one over it to see how the shimmer popped with it.  I will next time!  I was happy that the shimmer translated so well on the nail.  You see it in any lighting - indoors and outside.

If you've been interested in Love, Angeline this would be a great collection to try as minis or full size.  I also recommend her Topped With Love topcoat.  Lighting fast dry time and so shiny.  Would love to know your thoughts as always!  I linked her shop here too for your enablement.
Thanks for stopping by!

Throwback Thursday Sinful Colors Zeus

* Purchased by me *

Hello! It's been quite a bit since I've posted any Sinful Colors.  Zeus is an oldie but is just beautiful, and too pretty of a color not to share with you.  Zeus was one of my first Sinful Colors and if I had known then what I know now, I would own so many others from these older collections.
Shown is 2 coats of Zeus in the sun and KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I'm hoping Sinful Colors will eventually realize they need to bring back some of these older collections like Castaway (Zeus was part of that) and Adventure Island.

Since Zeus is not currently available, I was trying to think of something else that would fill the void.  My thought is that you can get a similar shade by using SinfulColors Lavender  or Zoya Caitlin, then topping with Revlon Matte Pearl Glaze (has a pink shimmer), and finally using a shiny topcoat.  I haven't tried it yet, so if you have those I'd love to know what you think!

Fingers crossed we'll see some of the older shades repromoted by Sinful Colors again!

Pahlish Bad Wolf

* Purchased by me *

Hello!  I've mentioned before that Palish is one of my favorite indies.  A few years ago, before I knew about them, I was at Jackie's house playing around with her polishes and tried Bad Wolf.  I loved it so much but it was not available to purchase, so I did what any other nail polish fiend does...bought a bunch of other polishes to fill the void (it didn't work) and added it to my DISO list.

Luckily Pahlish has a fantastic Facebook group called Pahlish Lovers and the ladies in it are so great.  I found someone who was willing to sell her bottle of Bad Wolf, and here we are!

Back in November, Shannon (the creator of Pahlish) actually found a batch of the shimmer she used and re-released Bad Wolf, so of course I picked up another bottle.
These swatches are from the original bottle of Bad Wolf.

Bad Wolf is a greyed taupe with an intense pink shimmer.  It's a neutral, but once it's on your nails it is so special that you kind of forget that.  This is 2 coats with topcoat in natural sunlight.

Swatch above is in the shade

Pahlish releases new polishes every Sunday (including small, limited release batches called Bespoke batches)  There are some beauties on there now, so go check it out!  If there are some older Pahlishes you are in search of I definitely recommend joining the Pahlish Lovers group on Facebook!

Thanks for stopping by!

Simple and Sweet Valentines Day Manis

Hello sweet friends!  I hope that you're having a great weekend regardless if you have something elaborate planned or you're just counting down the days to 60% off chocolate (which is the real MVP!)  I'm a February baby, so I do love seeing all the bright pink and chocolate love during this month.  I'm sharing two different manicures that are super simple and sweet, but I really love these colors.

First up is True Love's Kiss from Pure Ice.  This is from that very elusive LE Fairytale Forest collection that came out around November/December.  I hate to post this one, because it's impossible to find now (it took me no less than 4 WalMarts before I found one that even had a display!)   However, if Pure Ice is reading this.....
Why aren't you re-releasing this collection!?!?  Help some polished sisters out!

I adore True Love's Kiss. It takes 3 coats, but is fully opaque and the gold shimmer is perfection in this pale pink.  IF you know of any similar polishes that are opaque like this one, let me know!  I'd love to own a few others.  This was 3 coats on its own with KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Next, are a few older polishes but this look will be v easy to recreate.  This is an older CoverGirl Outlast polish I found on clearance, Crushed Berries.  The formula is amazing! This is 2 coats and I have never had a berry polish that was so easy to apply.  I hope other CoverGirl polishes are like this.

I topped it with SinfulColors Love Sprinkles that was from their Valentines Day collection last year. I love the pastel matte glitters they did. The small glitters are light pink, but very pale.  This was 2 coats of Love Sprinkles and fishing out the hearts are so worth it!

So that does it! Let me know which was your favorite. If you know of any other similar indie polishes to True Love's Kiss let me know that too!

XOXO - Hayley

KBShimmer Winter - Yule Worthy and Owl Miss You

* Contains PR samples for review *

Hello sweet friends!  I have 2 stunning polishes from the current KBShimmer Winter/Holiday collection today.  There are some serious beauties in this collection and a few others made it on my wish list, but these two are going to be great to wear all throughout fall and winter.

First up is Yule Worthy and all its sparkly goodness!  KBShimmer describes it as: a warm burgundy leaning, chocolate brown polish with micro metallic flakes.  The description is spot on to the polish because I couldn't decide if this was a brown polish or a burgundy polish.

I also see some very, very sparse scattered holo in Yule Worthy too.  Coverage-wise Yule Worth is fantastic!  I used 2 coats but was opaque in one careful coat.  The formula is thick, but not too thick, it just lends to good opacity.  I also used 1 coat of KBShimmer's Clearly On Top topcoat.  Love!

Next is Owl Miss You and it's another neutral but with something special to make it unique.  Owl Miss You is a beige/taupe filled with golden and copper flakes and shimmer. I see a few sage green flakes every so often too which I LOVE (you can see in the bottle shot).  Reminds me of a cozy cable knit sweater.  2 easy coats + topcoat and it's perfection.

In all the KBShimmer polishes I've tried, I have nothing but good things to say!  They really are a wonderful polish and I hear their Mani Shots and water decals are amazing too!  If you're interested in any of the other colors from KBShimmer's winter collection both present and past, you can find them on Amazon and on www.kbshimmer.com

SinfulColors Fig and Maroon Fine

 *Provided for review*

Hi all!   We made it to Wednesday...I hope the rest of this week goes faster than it has been!  At least we always have pretty polishes to look at and make us smile. :-)

Speaking of, I have two more beauties from SinfulColors that I love for Fall: Fig and Maroon Fine.

Fig is a deep plum purple with a hidden shimmer.  Fig seemed to dry a shade or two darker on my nails than in the bottle, so I think that had to do with why the shimmer was less visible on the nail. Very pretty and a very opaque formula. This was 2 coats of Fig and topcoat.  Fig is in the core collection and easy to find!

I mentioned a few posts ago, that there was a Sinful Colors from the summer Street Fusion collection that screamed fall to me.  Maroon Fine is a shimmer that leans sometimes rust orange, sometimes brick red depending on the lighting.  I love the glass flecks in the polish!  They glimmer red, but I wish they also had thrown some gold in there like Prosecco.  Either way, this reddish-orange color is great when you're not crazy about an orange polish!

SinfulColors Street Fusion Collection (partial)

 *Provided for review*

Hi all!  I have a few new polishes from the SinfulColors Street Fusion Summer 2015 collection to show you today!  My theme this week is SinfulColors because they have released some massive new collections lately, and keeping things interesting with new polishes and finishes.  AND they're on sale!
Street Fusion is split into 3 sub collections and is a mix of core colors (Island Coral, Endless Blue, Skylark etc...), lots of new bright shades (matte glitters and shimmers) and nail vinyls. You can view the 3 collections: Tokyo Lights, Bombay Nights, and Latin Heat to see all the new colors and matte glitters that are included.  Here are a few that I received for review:

Sky Tree (new shade) was interesting for me, it's a pretty teal with shimmer.  The shimmer catches greens and purples in the bottle.  It's very pigmented, and only 2 coats were needed to be fully opaque.  It seems to lean lighter on other people, but it was very bright on me!  Base coat is definitely needed for this one, or you will get the leftover tinge associated with teals/ blues.

sinful sky tree

Full Sun

Another polish in this release, Maroon Fine, is similar to Sky Tree, with that same shimmer, but is a really pretty rust color.  I will post it on its own, because it's perfection for fall!

Fuji Fuji (new shade) is a fun chunky silver/ holo glitter topper.  It has a mix of different size glitters and is densely packed. One coat gets plenty of glitter on the nail.  I would advise dabbing it to make sure it is evenly dispersed.  Look at the holo goodness:

silver holo glitter
SinfulColors Fuji Fuji

Pink Ansen (new shade) is a mix of iridescent glitters in a sheer pink base.  At first glance I thought it was similar to OPI Lily I Love You, but Pink Ansen includes bar glitter in addition to small hexes and shards.  The base in this bottle is a lighter pink, but they must have changed it at the last minute because the bottles I have seen in stores have a darker base - and actually looks closer to the OPI. This is one you could consider if you liked that OPI, but never got it.  Two coats are necessary and I would wear this over another base color.

Bonus: You can pick up all of the SinfulColors polishes for 99 cents this week at Walgreens! Let me know in the comments which polishes came home with you this week! :)

Love, Angeline - Almond Darling

*All Polishes Were Purchased*

I have some pretty pastels from indie brand Love, Angeline to share today! Oh, and they're matte.  Oh, and they have some subtle shimmer.  Excited yet?  Maybe just take a peek below.

chateau macaron; matte pastel polish

This is almost the complete Love, Angeline Chateau Macaron collection that released a few months ago for Spring 2015.  In retrospect, I should have just gotten the complete collection because the only one I'm missing is Confection-ary Yellow and I've seen a lot of really cute manis on Instagram using it.  *Sigh* but I digress...

love angeline polish

The first color I tried from the collection is Almond Darling.  I used 3 coats and no topcoat in order to leave it matte.  Almond Darling is a very pink leaning lavender.  It's extremely close to the pink in the collection, Baiser de Mousse, but is just slightly more lavender.  The formula was thin, which I liked because it was easy to control and lets a peek of shimmer show through (though very subtle).  I left some dry time between coats so they didn't pull.  This polish self leveled very well and the wear was fantastic!  I had no chipping even after a few days.

loveangeline

Natosha, the creator behind Love, Angeline is very engaging with her polished fans, so I definitely recommend stopping by!  The story behind her brand name is so sweet too!  You can still purchase the Chateau Macaron collection from her shop here.  If you are drawn to brighter shades for the summer, not to worry, because she's releasing a sister collection of summer matte neons called Meet Me At The Tea Salon.

Check out her Facebook and Instagram and if you have any Love, Angeline polishes I'd love to hear which ones you have!  Thanks for stopping by!

SpaRitual Arroyo

  *Purchased by me*

I'm excited to announce that I found another SpaRitual that I wanted from the Wander collection.  This one is called Arroyo, it is another "sandy matte shimmer" and this time I left it matte!  SpaRitual Arroyo is a pink that leans to the mauve spectrum, and has a golden shimmer to it.

Arroyo
Sunlight - no topcoat

I had to look up the definition to Arroyo (which I'm a little ashamed to say, since I live in Arizona) but it means: A dry creek or stream bed—gulch that temporarily or seasonally fills and flows after sufficient rain.
Yep, we have those all over the place here....and now on my nails.

Sparitual

This is two coats with no top coat.  Dry time is nice and quick because of the matte finish.  There are some great swatches of Arroyo with top coat, and like Nomad, the shimmer really pops with a shiny top coat.

sparitual

Again if you wander into an Ulta (see the first sentence for what I did there) and find these on clearance, I absolutely recommend getting them!  The sale price definitely makes these worth adding to your collection!
Thanks for stopping by!

SpaRitual Nomad

Happy Friday!! This brand is completely new to me.  I walked into Ulta's clearance sale on New Years Eve with the intent of getting some Zoyas, and walked out with this one also. I am sure you can relate. :)
I remembered admiring some of SpaRitual's Wander Fall 2014 collection, particularly Nomad, Arroyo and Starry Night.  I didn't see the other two, but grabbed the last Nomad because I have nothing like this in my collection.  I'm pretty infatuated...

Macro! (with topcoat)
The bottom of the bottle says sandy matte shimmer.  I read that and I acknowledged it but it didn't register.  Then when I tried it and saw it drying matte, tears of happiness welled up and I immediately messaged Jackie.  All the swatches of Nomad were mostly shown with topcoat (it is awesome this way).  I planned to leave it matte, but top coated it to make sure I could get pictures the next morning.

These swatches are 2 coats of Nomad and 1 coat of Out The Door.  It has a great formula and no clean up was necessary with this polish.  Nomad looks olive green with rose shimmer outdoor light and warmer greenish gold with rose shimmer indoors. Leaving it matte makes the polish softer looking and a unique, but very wearable olive.

Inside: polish accurate, not skin accurate!

If I had bought this before New Years Eve it would have definitely been on the Favorites post!  I would consider this beauty if you see it, or send me over a back up bottle! :)  My SpaRitual obsession starts now.

Budget Beauty: Ulta Lav-ish

I have a polish that may not be your first thought when you stop by Ulta, and it's probably not on your short list either.  I'll just say purple taupe with copper shimmer...and maybe that will peak your interest.  Or how about I just show you what Ulta Lav-ish looks like?

copper shimmer polish
Direct sunlight
copper shimmer

copper and lavender

This is in Ulta's core collection and has been for years.  It's a pretty unique combination for a mainstream polish, and perfect for fall!  The best part is that you can often find it for only $2.00!  I love Lav-ish because outside it heavily leans lavender, and inside it's definitely taupe but not too brown...

copper shimmer polish
Indoors- it's more taupe

copper shimmer

This was 3 thin coats, but you might be able to get away with 2 if you're careful.  The formula levels well, but takes a longer time to dry than I would like.  I waited (about an hour) and took these pictures without a topcoat, because the last time I wore it I used Out The Door and felt like the shimmer got lost somehow.  Does anyone else have that happen with a clear topcoat or have a different experience with OTD?  I just love shimmers, so I'll be looking for a topcoat that makes them stand out!

Thanks so much for reading! ♥
